Christmas

Christmas is one of the most important festival that is celebrated with lots of enthusiasm.In other parts of world in Goa .Christmas is celebrated on 25th December .The day marks the birth of Lord Jesus.All christian people make Dodol,Bebinca etc.All people are busy in decorating their houses,going for shopping, decorating of christmas tree etc.Christmas celebration begins with singing of carols followed by prayers in the church.
Christmas in Goa celebration include exchanging gifts and offering prayers. Dancing ,pealing of church bells and fireworks form an important part of christmas in Goa.People singing carols and Hymns during midnight.On christmas day the Christans organise special feast.People of Goa use beautiful gifts and colouring socks to decorate the tree.It is remarkable that the celebration of christmas is not restricted only for christmas people from all communities participate in the festivals.The midnight mass in Goa is characterised by the sounding of bells and lighting candles.

Shigmotsav

Shigmo festival in Goa is a colour festival celebrated  in the month of Falgun .Processions are carried out at temples by throwing 'Gulal' and dancing with God and Goddess umbrellas and 'Dindis'.This festival celebration is organized in different cities to attract tourists.Carried out with traditional Goan dances and modren floats.Its celebration begin with the holi,the festival of colours celebrated across the country.Shigmo parade consist of traditional folk and street dancers.It is the biggest festival for Hindus and is spread over a midnight.
It is beautifully taken out in the state capital Panaji and other places like Ponda,Vasco,Madgoan, and Mapusa.It is starting with prayers to the village God and Goddesses.The last five days of the fortnight is when the parades are held.It can be termed between Holi and Carnival.





Holi

Holi is the festival of colour celebrated in goa with lots of fun.Number of activities entertainment different programme are organised on this festival.Holi is been celebrated in different days in different region.In some villages the night prior to Holi is known as choti Holi.Badi Holi where people gatherd together and they come out and dance,sing,play music,colourred water and water ballons and pichkaris and use it to spray water on passerby.
All the colours have reason behind it.'Yellow' is considered as auspicious.'Red' symbolizes fire or source of energy.'Green' represents prosperity.'Pink' conveys love .'Blue stands for 'trust' etc.People enjoy that festival with lots of enjoyment.

Diwali

Diwali is celebrated in Goa and even other parts of India on that day all people come together before that narak chaturthi is been celebrated where people make narkasur and burnt.on the day of diwali many people go for shopping n bring new new cloths etc.Many people make sweets during diwali.Small children lightening up firework with full of enjoyment.eople believe that it is good sign to bring new car,bikes on the festival day.
Diwali is being enjoy with full of enjoyment and fun.Lightening of Panti,Akashdiya is being put above houses.It is a night which is jewelled with lightening of Diya.We eat different sweets specially we eat 'Fov' on Diwali day.Diwali which is festival of light is a one day festival of light.The lamp signify enlightenment or upliftment of the minds and edification of the spirit.

Ganesh Chaturthi

Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated every year in goa.Hindu festivals celebrate the birth of Lord Ganesh the supreme God of wisdom and prosperity.Ganesh Chaturthi is one of the major traditional festival celebrated by Hindu festival.It is in the Badrapada month.It starts for 21days and ends in Anand Chaturthi.According to Hindu mythology Lord Ganesh is the son of Shiva and Parvati.Lord Ganesh is famous for being a trickster and for his profound sense of humour.It iz believed that Lord Ganesh was born  on fourth day of the bright fornight in Magh.
All people are busy in their work by doing preparation of ganesh festival .All goes for shopping to bring cloths, different different items .We prepare different dishes like khatkhat, khir,godshe etc and also learn to cook food by helping.All people enjoy Ganesh festival with full of fun and enjoyment by buring of crackers,fugdi etc.Sweets such as neuri,modak and other savouries are prepared as an offering.Matoli is set up where the idol will be worshipped with pujas,bhajans, and aartis.
